Safety
We take our safety on activity session very seriously, our safety record is excellent, and for all participants safety on activities is the up most paramount importance.
Our instructors are qualified and experienced and we are a AALA Licensed Activity Provider, which is the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority and is licensed to provide activities to young people under the age of 18yrs.
What do I need to bring?
For all the activities you need an old pair of trainers or boots, spare warm fleece top, swimming costume to wear under a wetsuit, towel, pack lunch, drink, any own medication, a little rucksack bag, a change of clothing, hat and gloves and a camera is optional.
Will I be provided with special clothing and equipment?
Yes we provide you all with the specialist safety clothing and equipment, all you have to bring are yourselves and the above.
How fit do I have to be?
You do not need any experience all we recommend you to be generally average fit, obviously if you are medication dependant like diabetic, asthma or epileptic, you have to make sure you have it with you, We would have to make a conscious decision if you have a serious medical condition.
Do you have an age limit?
No but some activities would not be suitable for children under the ages of 10, families are very welcome, all we need to know what are the ages in your group. Please state what activities you would like to do and we’ll sort out.
Do I need experience?
No, not at all. Anyone can come along and we will give all the instruction need for you to experience a challenging new activity. Non-Swimmers also catered for.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of people in a group?
The minimum participants are 2 and there is no maximum, but please let us know and book well in advance for large bookings.
What level is the canoeing and kayaking for?
We only offer taster fun sessions for both kayaking and canoeing, this can be a journey trip on an estuary or lake or a static session on a lake. We can offer white water kayaking grade 1-2 half day or full days, but you need to have had some sort of experience in a kayak on this type of water.
Is there any transport provided?
No all you have to do is meet us in our meeting place and we drive to activity venue, there are changing facilities and some toilets available.
Do you provide accommodation?
We can arrange or recommend accommodation around the area of Dolgellau from B&B’s, bunkhouses and self catering cottages, a list is on our website links page.
What time does the session start?
Half day starts at: 9.30am -1pm
Full day starts at: 10am – 5pm
Half day starts at: 9.30 – 1pm
Full day starts at: 9.30am – 4pm
Do you provide mountain bikes & can we bring our own?
Yes, and you are also welcome to bring your own bike, please state if you are bringing your bike and it must be in reasonable condition.
Do I need insurance?
Up 4 Adventures carries full public Liability insurance and we use full qualified and experienced instructors.
We advise you to taker out your own personal accidents insurance, we are also not liable for any damages to your own clothing or personal property e.g. camera’s watches, glasses, car keys.
Food & Drink, do I need to bring a packed lunch?
They are plenty of traditional public houses, chip shops, pizza kebab, Indian and Chinese restaurants out and around Dolgellau, but for all of the activity sessions please bring your own pack lunch and drink.
What if the weather is poor?
We will still go out on activity sessions because its part of the experience, the only time it will be cancelled will be due to severe weather conditions e.g. high water levels, thunder and lightening, we will then offer you an alternative date or different activity.
Do I need to book and pay in advance?
Generally yes, because the date you book might already be taken, we take a 50% deposit on all activities, but also you be just lucky and ring up at the last minute the day before and we are available.
You cannot pay on the day unless it was a last minute booking, Cheques made payable to ‘Up 4 Adventures’, the 50% deposit is non-refundable on cancellation.
Do you have public liability insurance?
Yes we have full insurance for public liability, any other additional insurance against accident, injury or loss of passions should be taken out by the participants.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes it does help if you can swim for the water sport activities, but whether you are a swimmer or non swimmer, we give everybody full wetsuits, waterproofs, helmets and buoyancy aids that make you float, you don’t need to worry at all, please specify when booking.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for a 50 % Deposit on all activities booked, in the event of severe weather conditions we can offer an alternative activity or another date. |
